All About Salicylic Acid

When it comes to smoother, clearer skin Salicylic Acid is a tried and true powerhouse. Part of of a group of chemical exfoliants knows as Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHAs), Salicylic Acid is a hero ingredient when it comes to preventing blocked pores, blackheads and acne.

Derived from Willow Bark Extract, Salicylic Acid acts a chemical exfoliator for the complexion, ridding it of dead skin cells and clearing congestion.

Thanks to its oil-soluble format, this ingredient can also penetrate deep within the pores to break up excess oil without irritation (if used properly) while also stimulating collagen production. The result? Clearer, softer and smoother skin. 

What is Salicylic Acid? 

Salicylic Acid is a Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA): an oil-soluble acid that chemically exfoliates the outer layer of skin and treats blemish-prone complexions.  

BHAs like Salicylic Acid are especially beneficial for congested and acne-prone skin as they work both on the surface layer of the skin and can penetrate the pores to break up excess oil and sebum.   

Thanks to its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and larger molecular size, Salicylic Acid also tends to be less irritating to the skin.
